Dear friends, it is with mixed emotions that I write to close out my year of daily gratitude and prayer here on Daily Thankful. Oh, what a blessed journey it has been! (Today marks the one-year anniversary of this blog)
It is with a thankful and sincere heart that I bid my fond – but brief – farewell to you here. As some of you know, I’ve sensed the Lord prompting me to take my blogging journey in another direction, and Daily Hopeful [http://dailyhopeful.wordpress.com] is the result of this guidance. Feel free to join me there if you like! (Extra grace is appreciated, though, as I’m just getting started)
I am so thankful to each of you for your many kindnesses, words of wisdom, encouragement, and prayers. You are a blessing!
Allow me to leave you with some wise words of benediction, taken from the book of Colossians:
Dear Lord, thank You for this incredible journey here on Daily Thankful. This experience has been both rewarding and humbling in some aspects, but I do not regret a moment of it! Thanks for the amazing friends I’ve met along the way.
Finally, I lift up Daily Hopeful to You at this time, Lord, and trust that You will use it in whatever way best accomplishes Your sovereign purposes. In Your name I pray, Amen.

A few housekeeping items:
- Daily Thankful will remain here. Who knows? I may revive the blog at some point, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. The already-published content will stay here, though.
- I will continue to post under the name “Daily Thankful,” even though the new blog is called Daily Hopeful. I hope this won’t be too confusing!
- I’ll still keep reading and commenting on your blogs, as my schedule permits. I look forward to remaining connected to you all!
– Daily

Thanks so much for your comment! Indeed, it has been bittersweet for me as well. Such is life when we are trying to follow the Lord’s guidance sometimes, no?
Grateful for you! 🙂

Thank you, my friend! How are you doing these days? How is your mother?

That answer is complicated. My younger brother has been here since the beginning of September. He came to help out with my mother as he missed that time with my dad before he passed. However it is been chaos ever cents. He started drinking after 28 months been summer. I know he yells it and believes my mother. My mother is buying the car get insurance and will get licensed. She also paid $600 for repairs. She has made most of these decisions without my input. She has been going to Al-Anon for 30 years. However, she continues to enable my brother. So it is here. I told her this morning that if my brother was not gone by January I would be seriously thinking about moving back to Washington. But on a bright note I get my car back today after the hand controls were installed. Have to get a learners permit and then take a test. But it shouldn’t be too hard.

My goodness! Lots going on. At least I know how I should be praying about you and your family. I’m so very sorry to hear about your brother’s situation. I’ll pray for wisdom and discernment for you, as you contemplate moving back to Washington to be closer to your mother. It sounds like a very challenging situation overall; I know that your mother must be very grateful for your help and support.
Congratulatioms on the new car and having passed your driving test! 🙂

Alas, I misunderstood a part of your commemt. It sounds like you still have to take your driving test and get the permit for your old car – not a new one. I will pray that you are successful in this regard, and join you in thanking God for the safe return of your car!

Unfortunately it all blew up last night. He was in the driveway drinking. He came in and was out of control. This morning I told him we had to leave. I think he knew it was coming, he packed up and left. I think I confused you. I’m here in North Carolina with my mother, my brother had come to be with us for a while. My children and grandchildren live in Seattle. When my mother passes away I will be moving back. But for now God has me on this mission field!

Oh my! It definitely sounds like everything came to a head last night. Yes, I believe I got part of the story mixed up, but I think I understand it better now.
Are you feeling better/more relieved now that your brother is gone? That must’ve been somewhat scary, having to deal with the big blowup last night. 😮

Yes, I’m doing better! And the condition he was in I’m glad he’s gone. My mother is still struggling however. He is her baby!

I will keep praying for your mother, as love can be such a bittersweet and hard thing – especially where family is concerned.
I am relieved to hear that you are better! 🙂
